As well as a new 'look and feel', new features are being added to the Synergy service all the time - aimed at improving your research experience and the chances of finding the most relevant articles in your field. Some of the major changes you'll find if you have not visited Synergy recently are:
New design
There's a new design for the main Blackwell Synergy list of journals page, and for the journals' own content pages. The aim has been to enable readers to select journals in their subject areas and to locate relevant articles much more easily.
QuickLink
A new QuickLink feature allows you to locate an exact article reference more quickly.
Alerts
In addition to table of contents e-mail alerts, readers will soon be able to set up search alerts. You can request to receive information about all new articles in a particular subject area (eg. research on 'antibiotics'). You will receive an e-mail in your inbox with links through to the relevant abstract as the article is published online.
CrossRef
Article reference lists will soon include more CrossRef links and links to external databases, such as ISI Web of Science. These links will be added 'dynamically' and will be the very latest links available. As referenced material is put online in other publisher services, links to it will be added even after the article has been published online on Blackwell Synergy.

Remember to sign up for FREE e-mail alerts of the latest table of contents from the Journals, if you haven't done so already! Simply go to www.blackwell-synergy.com and either login or register. You can then go to the relevant journal page through the QuickLink option, and click on the text Sign-up for FREE e-mail table of contents alerts.

This page is accessible to any visitor to the site and allows the reader to view the contents of a specific issue.
Abstracts
Any visitor to the site can select an abstract and view the article summary.
PDF
Journal of Applied Microbiology and Letters in Applied Microbiology and Environmental Microbiology subscribers are able to see exact facsimiles of papers. These are invaluable for printing as they include page numbers and formatting

Journal of Applied Microbiology and Letters in Applied Microbiology and Environmental Microbiology subscribers can use this function for on-screen viewing. Within this feature there are links throughout the text for easy navigation to references and diagrams. In addition, there are pop-up windows showing clear diagrams and links to cited articles throughout CrossRef and other databases. In the future there will be the opportunity to insert sound files and animations
