The Society for Applied Microbiology (SfAM) Headquarters is 0.5 miles from Bedford town centre providing convenient access to the main arterial routes to the north and south via the M1 and A1, with excellent rail connections to London, the Midlands and Luton International airport.

From the M1 (J14)

Take the A509 north, direction Newport Pagnell. Continue on the A509 north. After 3.6 miles take the 3rd exit off the Chicheley Hill roundabout onto A422 direction Bedford. After 7 miles take the 3rd exit off the roundabout onto A428. Enter Bedford from Bromham on the A428 (Bromham Road). At the double mini roundabout, turn left into Shakespeare Road (A5141). After 800 yds cross straight over the next roundabout into Manton Lane. After 900 yds continue straight over at the set of traffic lights. The Society Office is on your left.

From the West (A428)

Enter Bedford from Bromham on the A428 (Bromham Road). At the double mini roundabout, turn left into Shakespeare Road (A5141). Cross straight over the next roundabout into Manton Lane. Go through a set of traffic lights. The Society Office is on your left.

From the East (A428)

Enter Bedford from Great Barford on the A428 (Goldington Road). At the MFI roundabout, turn right into Norse Road. Cross straight over three roundabouts into Wentworth Drive. Cross straight over the next roundabout into Avon Drive. At the next roundabout (after a small row of shops), take the 3rd exit into Waveney Avenue. At the mini roundabout, turn right into Brickhill Drive, continue straight over the next mini roundabout which leads up a hill and into Manton Lane. The Society Office is on your right.

By Train

Bedford station is 0.5miles from the Society Office. The First Capital Connect line links Brighton and Gatwick directly to Bedford Midland Road station via Kings Cross. Trains also run half-hourly from Kings Cross/St Pancras to Bedford Midland Road station. Midland Mainline run services between Kings Cross/St Pancras and the Midlands via Bedford. A branch line links Bedford with Bletchley / Milton Keynes.

By Bus

Bedford Bus station is 0.5 miles away from the Society Office. The number 6 service from Bedford town centre runs every 20 minutes. This service stops directly outside the Office on Brickhill Drive.
