Flu breakthrough could potentially lead to a universal vaccine

Scientists at Oxford University have developed a new vaccine targeting a different part of the flu virus which could make the vaccine effective against all strains of flu. The vaccine targets protein inside the flu virus which are common in all strains. The scientists have begun testing the vaccine on humans with the flu. SfAM Honorary General Secretary Mark Fielder commented that the study showed some very interesting positive findings but that a larger trial was needed to confirm these.
