SfAM Image Competition 2017

The Society for Applied Microbiology are now accepting entries for the Image & Video Competition 2017 and this year, as you may notice by the title, we are branching out to include a new video category.

DEADLINE: 18 September 2017

The Society for Applied Microbiology Image Competition 2017 and is open to ALL microbiologists from across the globe.

We are looking for innovative and striking images that represent any aspect of microbiology.

This could be some fantastic agar art, an SEM image of your favourite bugs, an arty laboratory shot, an image of a particular environment that supports microbial life e.g. hot springs and methanotrophs, or something that you feel represents a global challenge that SfAM are working to solve such as antimicrobial resistance.

You can send your images to communications@sfam.org.uk for a chance to win a FREE one-year membership at no cost and have the image featured in the Microbiologist magazine.

A total of 12 winning entries will each receive a FREE one-year membership at no cost.

Terms and conditions

The competition is open to all microbiologists of any age group.

The entrant must be the sole owner of the copyright of any material entered

SfAM does not accept any liability for the publication of unlawfully reproduced material.

The contest is open to all, other than paid employees (or families) of SfAM

Maximum of one entry per person

Winners will be notified two weeks after the competition closes

The 12 best images will each receive a FREE one-year membership at no cost with full member benefits.

The winning image will feature in the March 2018 Microbiologist Magazine.

Images should be submitted as high quality JPEGs, tiff, psd or eps files

Each image should be a minimum of 300dpi, minimum 2MB and maximum 10MB in file size

SfAM takes no responsibility for corrupted or late entries

By entering any material to the competition, you grant SfAM the right to reproduce it for any purpose at any time, in any media.

The winners consent to the use of their images, name and/or photograph in any publicity carried out by SfAM, without any further compensation

All entries will be judged by a panel of esteemed microbiologists.
