Scientific Meeting Attendance Grant

The purpose of the Scientific Meeting Attendance Grant is to financially assist members to attend an appropriate applied microbiology scientific meeting. With a maximum amount of £300 available.

Terms and Conditions

1. Applicants must have been a member of the Society for at least 12 months and have paid a minimum of two subscription payments.

2. Any applicant must be either a Full Ordinary, Honorary or Full Student Member.

3. Normally a member may not apply for a further Scientific Meeting Attendance Grant for at least 18 months.

4. There is no deadline to apply for this grant. All applications will be processed on receipt of the form by the Society office. Applications will be considered on a first come first served basis, throughout the calendar year, until all the funding has been allocated.

5. Applications must be received by the Society office at least 12 weeks before the event.

6. Members wishing to attend scientific meetings with an applied theme will be considered for this award. This includes all of the Society’s scientific events including the annual Environmental Microbiology Lecture.

7. All applications will be assessed by the grants awards panel and their decision is final.

8. The maximum amount available will be £300 (or equivalent in Euro or US Dollars) which will be paid retrospectively once the applicant has attended the meeting. Reimbursement will only be made upon the production and verification of receipts. No payment will be made without this documentation.

9. Eligible costs covered by this grant include contribution towards, registration fees, travel costs, accommodation or subsistence.

10. Although not essential, preference will be given to applicants contributing to the meeting they wish to attend.
